MANCHESTER — GriefShare is set to begin a 13-week grief support group from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 14, at Hope Baptist Church, 726 Western Ave.
A session for loss of spouse is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 7.
A GriefShare group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief, according to Susan Mauro, assistant leader. Attendees will learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability, and gain solid support each step of the way.
Each weekly meeting will include a video featuring counselors, pastors and healthcare professionals on grief-related topics and relatable personal stories of grief followed by a group discussion. Everyone will receive a book to take home filled with exercises for navigating their personal grieving process.
Topics include how to manage grief-related emotions such as loneliness, anxiety, sadness, anger and regret; how to cope with changes in one’s life and relationships; and how to recognize what’s normal in grief and what to do if one feels stuck or hopeless.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
