Thomas L. Batchelder
HARTLAND – Thomas L. Batchelder, 75, died on March 14, 2025, at his home in Hartland.
Tom was born on Feb. 18, 1950, in Hartland, a son of the late Norman and Hazel (Caldwell) Batchelder. He graduated from Hartland Academy with the class of 1968 and proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. In his younger years, he was a woodsman and later on he owned and operated Affordable Motors and Casino Hill Trading Company, both located in Skowhegan. He was a member of the VFW and the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Family was everything to Tom. He was compassionate and willing to lend a hand to one in need. He was a natural salesman, jack of all trades, and loved buying and selling, especially if he got a good deal! He loved to eat, especially desserts. Sunday dinners and Wednesday donut runs were always a favorite!
He is survived by his children: Tammy Wyman, Marci Thomas and husband Joe, Thomas Batchelder Jr and wife Heidi, Ann Tibbetts and husband Shannon, and Daniel Stewart; grandchildren: Kaycee Small and companion Nate Langley, Ashley Morin and husband Corey, Heidi Baird and husband Adam, Thomas Batchelder III, Tanner Batchelder, Logan Wyman, Andrius Wyman, Madelynn Wyman, Bryson Batchelder, Mason Batchelder, Xander Batchelder, Aiyana Tibbetts, and Amiya Tibbetts; great-grandchildren: Abyl, Gannon, Brea, Sophia, Lennox, Milo, and Wesley; siblings: Maurice Batchelder and wife Peggy, Gerry Batchelder, and Wayne Caldwell and wife Sandra; fiancée, Donna Wing and family; special nephew and niece, Mike and Christy Baker; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Judith; and son-in-law, Jeffery Wyman.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Palmyra Village Cemetery, Warren Hill Road, Palmyra, with military honors being presented for his service to our country.

For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
