PITTSFIELD — Drivers heading south on Interstate 95 through Pittsfield on Friday should expect a significant detour, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.
The southbound side of I-95 near mile marker 152 in Pittsfield is scheduled to be closed from about 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews repair pavement on the median crossover, Maine DOT said in an announcement Wednesday.
Maine DOT officials said the closure will require detouring southbound traffic. Motorists will be directed to Exit 157 in Newport, and then to Pittsfield via Route 100 and Somerset Avenue. In Pittsfield, traffic will be able to get back onto I-95 at Exit 150.
Detour routes will be signed accordingly, Maine DOT said.
The work is part of a project to replace the decks on several bridges that carry I-95 over the Sebasticook River and Route 152.
Northeast Paving of Bangor has a $3.7 million contract for the project, according to Maine DOT.
