A technical issue is causing some drivers who use E-ZPass on the Maine Turnpike to see red or yellow lights and a message to call customer service when they pass through tollbooths, but tolls are still being recorded, the Maine Turnpike Authority said.
“While this message may cause confusion, it can be disregarded until further notice,” the authority said in a written announcement. “The issue is causing a delay in transaction processing and does not indicate a problem with individual E-ZPass accounts.”
A “system interruption” is causing delayed processing of E-ZPass scans, but affected transactions will be posted eventually.
The provider is currently working to correct the issue, the authority said, but it did not provide a timeline for the fix.
“Rest assured, there is no need to contact MTA Customer Service if you see the ‘Call Customer Service’ message — your toll transactions are still being recorded,” the authority said.
