Gerard “Gerry” Oscar Reny

CLINTON – Gerard “Gerry” Oscar Reny, 70, passed away at his home in Clinton, on Wednesday March 5, 2025.

Gerry was born in Waterville on Oct. 14, 1954, to Roland and Dorothy “Lachance” Reny.

He was an extremely proud Marine serving in Vietnam from 1971-1975, before being honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1975.

He worked throughout his career as a truck driver and a mechanic. He was always willing to lend a hand when asked by family and friends.

Gerry enjoyed fishing up to Lawrence’s Camps in Rockwood, hunting with his military buddy, Matt Mattson, and watching Nascar races on Sundays.

Gerry’s biggest joy was his two grandchildren, Xavier and Rheigan. Anytime he attended one of their events, you could hear him yelling and clapping.

He was predeceased by both his parents; brothers Michael and Patrick Reny.

He is survived by his only daughter, Jennifer “Reny” and husband Christopher Smith; grandson, Xavier Smith, granddaughter, Rheigan Smith; brother, Timothy and his wife Jane Reny, brother, Richard “Dick” and his wife Betty Reny, sister, Kathy and her husband Kevin Bolduc; several nieces and nephews he held very near and dear to his heart. He is also survived by his good friend, Matt Mattson and his wife Fawn.

A celebration of life will be held at the Waterville Elks Lodge, Sunday April 6 at 1 p.m. A springtime burial will be held at the Veteran’s Cemetery on Mt Vernon Road in Augusta.
