Bertrand Reginald Roy
RANDOLPH – Bertrand Reginald Roy, 93, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Maine General Hospital in Augusta.
Bert was born in Augusta on Feb. 19, 1932, the son of the late Dominic and Florence (Poulin) Roy. Later in life, Florence married Oscar Theriault to whom Bert was close. He served in the Korean Conflict in the early 1950’s.
On July 19, 1963, Bert married Peggy Grotton and became dad to her two sons Rick and Ron. Their son, Reggie, was born in 1964. After living in Augusta and Gardiner, they settled in Randolph in 1972.
Bert was employed by the USVA, Togus for many years as an arborist, retiring in 1987. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting with his children and brothers-in-law. Every summer he and the family would spend a couple of weeks at the camp in Gouldsboro, Maine where many memories were made. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Gardiner, which he attended Saturday Mass for many years.
In his declining years, his sons looked after his needs and his son Reggie devoted most of his time caring for his father. He lived a full, long life and is now at peace.
Bert is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Grotton Roy of Randolph; three sons, Rick Grotton of Monmouth, Ron Grotton of West Gardiner, and Reggie Roy of Randolph.
