
Sylvia “Pinky” Ruth Gilbert
NORRIDGEWOCK – Sylvia “Pinky” Ruth Gilbert, 64, passed away peacefully with family by her side March 3, 2025. She was born Feb. 17, 1961, in Waterville, the daughter of Edward and Barbara Brow.
Pinky grew up attending Norridgewock Federated Church and graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1979. After graduation Pinky worked as a stitcher for many years at the New Balance and Solon Manufacturing. Pinky met her one true love Francis; it was the best thing that happened to each of them, they said their own vows at Corbin Park in Skowhegan. In her free time Pinky loved to crochet, go for car rides to the ocean and mountains, bird watching, she loved animals, her fur baby “Misty” was her precious cat of 19 years.
Pinky was predeceased by her parents Edward and Barbara Brow, and her sister Cynthia B. Finney. She is survived by her partner and love of her life Francis Thody from St. Albans; her sisters Judy Cleary and Audrey Stapleford; nephews, Scott, Bob, and Jamie, niece Deanna; and many great nieces and nephews.
Sylvia’s nickname was always “Pinky” given to her by her Aunt Ruth. If you were to describe her personality it would be “she was the kindest, loving, sweetest human being that God ever blessed us with. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
There will be a spring graveside service at Village Cemetery in Palmyra, services are to be announced.
