WATERVILLE – James Arthur Bourque passed away March 25, 2025, from dementia at Lakewood Nursing Home. He was born in Waterville on April 7, 1933, the son of Arthur and Germaine Bourque.

James married Joan Boudreau in 1955. Together they raised five children in Benton, Cynthia Bourque Simonds (David), Shari Kam, Victoria Finch (Mike), Steve Bourque (Sarah), and Gary Bourque (Tonya). They have nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

James was in the United States Coast Guard for four years. He worked at Scott Paper Company in Winslow for 35 years. There, he created a computer room for big machines, and he was very proud of that. He retired when the mill closed.

They spent 25 winters in Zephyrhills, Fla. and enjoyed many happy years in Betmar Park, meeting many wonderful people along the way. James started the computer club in the park where he taught weekly classes of 85 people, and he loved every minute of it! He would ride his bike to the houses that needed help.

James loved golfing and got three hole-in-ones in his lifetime. He also loved woodworking and building. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus for many years, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Winslow, as a lifetime member.
