BELFAST – Katharyn (Serencha) Damon, born on May 29, 1942, in Pittsfield, passed away on March 6, 2025, in Augusta.
Katharyn was a talented and generous artist who found joy in sharing her creativity with others. She expressed herself through painting, ceramics, and fiber arts, often gifting her works to family and friends. Her passion for art extended beyond her own creations—she taught ceramic classes for several years and led an after-school art program, inspiring young minds to explore their artistic abilities.
Katharyn is survived by her children, Jeff Damon and his wife Kathy, Anne Shirey and her significant other Roger, and Rusty Damon and his wife Heather. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Madelyn Serencha, father George Serencha, stepmother Arlene Serencha, sister Ann, and brother Ed.
A graveside service will be held sometime in May.
May her artistic spirit and generosity continue to inspire those who knew her.
