Sean Patrick Donegan
DALLAS PLANTATION – Sean Patrick Donegan passed away peacefully in his home on March 14, 2025, with his sweetheart Devri Byrom by his side.
He was born March 26, 1972, to Teresa Sakal Donegan and Thomas Daniel Donegan in what was then the Augusta General Hospital. Sean’s parents were overjoyed to bring him home. All the ladies in the neighborhood reported “oh yup, that baby was wicked cunn’in”. His parents quickly decided to grow their family, and Sean became the leader of Irish triplets.
Sean moved to Readfield Maine with his family when he was 7, attending Readfield Elementary School and Maranacook Community School graduating in 1990. At Maranacook Sean ran cross-country, track and field, and skied. Sean’s love for Saddleback Mountain began early with ski trips with his dad. He would ski many other mountains throughout his short life, but Saddleback Mountain would become home.
From a young age Sean worked with his father in the family equipment rental business, Pro Rental. First at Augusta Tool, then Waterville Tool, and finally Pro Rental of Rockport. He had two boys, Seamus and Keegan and he loved being their dad. He encouraged them as they explored their talents in all things and celebrated who they are and who they are becoming. They adventured together-skiing, upta camp, and skipping rocks in Maine’s lakes and rivers. Sean could be found on a bike during all of Maine’s seasons; few things made him happier than messing around on a bike with good friends.
Sean and Devri met on an ice hockey rink and joined their lives together in 2013. In 2020, Sean and Devri made Rangeley their full-time home. Sean was part of the property maintenance team reopening Saddleback Maine. He was so proud to be part of that team. After Saddleback successfully reopened, Sean moved on to put his time and energy into building his own home with Devri. Sean joined a crew of talented timber framers and carpenters, and under their guidance his hands touched every board, nail, and screw. Sean also joined the grooming team at the Rangeley Lakes Trails Center. He learned to operate a Pisten Bully 100, learned a bit of snow science, and helped maintain the nordic trails system. His passion for snow and equipment operation merged, and he spent many a Rangeley sunrise out on the trails on the mountain he loved.
Sean was predeceased by his mother, Teresa Donegan. He leaves behind his sweetheart, Devri Byrom; his children, Seamus Donegan and Keegan Donegan; his father, Thomas Donegan; sister, Carey Donegan and her husband Doug Felt, brother, Michael Donegan and wife Amanda; nephew, Alexzander Donegan and wife Bianca, nephew, Noah Donegan, nieces, Elizabeth, Victoria and Evangeline Felt and Lauren Donegan; great niece, Saoirse, and many, many, cousins and friends.
Sean lived his life to its fullest. He made the most of each day, filling them with all his favorite things and favorite people. Sean asked for no formal service. We will all remember him when we enjoy our beautiful State in all the seasons, especially if we take a wee spin in a truck…that’s just good clean fun.
Arrangements are under the care of Dan and Scott’s Cremation and Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington, Maine, where memories, photos and condolences may be shared at dsfuneral.com.
He asked in lieu of cards and flowers for those inclined, for donations to go to:
