Constance O. (Labbe) Latno

AUGUSTA – Connie peacefully went to heaven on March 29, 2025. She was born Oct. 21, 1932, to parents Omer W. and Evelyn D. (Parent) Labbe. Connie had six siblings, Doris Fleury, Wilfred, Roger, Richard, Lionel, and Raymond Labbe all also predeceased.

She attended St. Augustine’s school and graduated from Cony High School in 1951. Constance married Raymond Latno in 1953. They enjoyed their time outdoors together, hunting and fishing. Connie and Ray were able to complete their family by adopting daughter Elizabeth and son Gerard. Connie also cared for her Aunt Gertrude. Most notably, was Connie’s work at Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, where she was made an honorary Maine Guide by the Governor of Maine, after years of traveling the state to administer the Guide test. English was Connie’s second language, French being the first, and the game wardens of northern Maine were always asking Connie to translate. She retired from the state of Maine in 2000.

Connie was the first woman ever elected to office as secretary of Le Club Calumet, AND served for 7 years in this role. She also knitted mittens for Augusta preschools and one year made over 400 pairs. She was a member of a candle pin bowling league, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, and always up to watch her beloved Red Sox.

Connie loved to gamble! Beano with her good friend Sherryanne, signing the book at the Calumet Club or betting on the World Series, she always had something to wager on.

Even though Connie lived and worked in Augusta her whole life, she was also well traveled. Making yearly trips to Canada with family and friends for La Cabane a Sucre. As well as trips to Cancun and Cozumel Mexico, she also went on a tour of Europe to Paris, Italy, Jerusalem, and Isreal with her brother Ray, her favorite traveling partner.

What Connie loved most was family. She hosted countless Sunday dinners and all of the holiday celebrations for many years. She taught us all what hard work and perseverance were and how not to worry too much on the small stuff.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Lewis and favorite son-in-law, Andy, her son, Gerard Latno; her granddaughters, Amanda Varney and husband Steve and their children, Natalie and Mckenna; along with her granddaughters, Sophia Latno and her fiancé Nate Scott, and Jennifer Weston and her husband Darrel. Also surviving are her great and great great grandchildren, Steven, Annie, Jaelynn, and Ellie and Dakota, Abby, Shelley, Jacoby, Heather and Darrel Jr; honorary daughter Kim Vdoviak and honorary granddaughter Samantha Coe; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Connie’s family would like to thank the staff of the Woodlands Senior Living in Hallowell as well as the Andwell Hospice team for the work they do providing exceptional care to their residents.
