Richard Mark Hamlin

MADISON – An avid outdoorsman passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 30, 2025, at home. He was born on July 12, 1967, in San Pablo, Calif.

His first loves were hunting and fishing, only surpassed by his love for his daughter Ciera, who was his pride and joy, fishing partner, and “bestest buddy”. A man of many passions over the years, from his long-haired rock-n-roll drumming days, to being an ardent fan of the Bruins and Patriots, Rich could often be found perfecting his skill as a barbeque pit master spending hours tending to his smoker. He had an enthusiasm for family, food, and the company of good friends.

Rich graduated from Spaulding High School, Rochester, NH in 1985, and worked at Northeast Container in Dover, NH before moving to Maine. Rich moved to Maine in 1989 with his first wife, Amanda J Drew, and his beloved daughter Ciera Rae was born in 2000.

He attended Eastern Maine Community College earning his applied science degree in Building Construction Technology in 2006. Rich furthered his passion for the outdoors, becoming a Maine Guide in 2016. He was a building contractor and partner in FFI Construction before moving to New Balance, where he met his beautiful future wife, Angela Mason. Their home away from home was a family camp on Sebec Lake, where they were married in 2023. More recently, Rich had been working at Sappi Paper Mill since 2021.

He was predeceased by his father Dwight R. Hamlin, mother Sandra E. Hamlin (Bowden), grandson Garth Lee Dunphy, and his faithful hunting companion, Camo.

He is survived by his wife Angela Hamlin (Mason); daughters Ciera Rae and partner Alex Lee,Brittney Dunphy and husband Gabe, and son Devon Watt and partner Jazmine Murray; brother Jeffery S. Hamlin and wife Sharon, sister Kimberly M. Dimon and husband Charlie; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Rich made friends wherever he went, many who were lifelong and became his family, including Claude Williams, Steve Robinson, Dave Richard, Carl Michaud, Marc Desrosiers, and Lee Tasker, in addition to many others.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
