JD Davison collected 32 points and 17 assists, Miles Norris scored a career-high 27 points, and the Maine Celtics advanced to the NBA G League Eastern Conference final for the second straight year by holding off the Westchester Knicks for a 124-118 win Thursday night in White Plains, New York.
Davison, the G League’s Most Valuable Player, scored 13 points during a 27-10 run in the third quarter after Westchester rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to tie the game at 76-76.
Then, after Westchester closed to within four points with just over a minute remaining, Davison drilled a 3-pointer. Moments later, he fed Norris for a breakaway dunk that turned into a three-point play.
Maine finished with 20 3-pointers, tying the franchise postseason record set Tuesday in a conference quarterfinal win over Capital City.
Jordan Walsh, on assignment from the Boston Celtics, contributed 19 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Schakel scored 15 points, all on 3-pointers, and Drew Peterson scored 14.
Moses Brown led the Knicks with 27 points and 26 rebounds.
The Celtics will play the top-seeded Osceola Magic at 7 p.m. Sunday in Florida.
