Amelda Ross
PITTSFIELD – Amelda Ross, 89, known to everyone as Amy, died peacefully with her family by her side at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield on March 19, 2025. Amy was born the middle child of Donald and Alice (Lunney) Gregory on March 1, 1936 in Westfield.
Amy graduated from Presque Isle High School, and Farmington Teachers college, she went on to become an educator, homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Amy had been a member of Womancare, Dexter Sunshine Club, Dexter Christian Community Church and Silver Sneakers at Community Fitness in Guilford. She was an avid University of Maine Black Bears Mens hockey fan and never missed a home game to cheer them on.
Amy loved to be around people and would jump at any chance for a gathering or a road trip. Her most cherished times were spent at her camp on Center Pond with her family, and her sunset pontoon boat cruises around the pond. She loved to host card games at her home with her cherished friends of many years. Amy prided herself in staying active, healthy and motivated.
Amy was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Allen “Al”. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa and husband Jeremy Leal and children Zachary and Mackenzie; son, Allen and wife Shannon and children Cameron, Emma, Jordyn and Spencer; and a special cousin, Del Benjamin, who always made a point to visit with Amy.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathryn and survived by her children, Kristi and Sonja Hall, and Sonja’s fiancé Devin Polizzotti. Amy was predeceased by her parents, sisters Gloria Bridges, and Sharon Gregory. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and three great grandchildren.
Amy was blessed with many true friends over the years, her church friends, card playing friends and her Silver Sneakers family, she loved you all. A special Thank you to Gail Madsen, Karen Cookson, Denise Dinsmore, Sonia Dillard, Jill Jones, and Marie Lougee who were there to help out and spend time with her.
There will be a celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
