It was dumb luck that I happened on Ron Joseph’s beautiful account of spending time with his grandparents at their dairy farm in Mercer (March 31).

His grandfather Florian worked a special magic with two traumatized workhorses. Reading about his gentle demeanor as he rehabilitated his neighbor’s horses and the description of the easy rhythm of farm life was the most calming and rewarding article I’ve read in a newspaper all winter. Small town life with helpful neighbors, kind, common-sense training techniques and grandkids loving daily time spent with grandparents, now there’s a concept.

Next time, please don’t hide something this good in the sports section.
