I write expressing horror and shame at the recent acts of the U.S. government and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, particularly Noem’s visit to the prison in El Salvador. We were subjected to Noem’s posing in a photograph in front of prison cells filled with half-naked people who have been shanghaied and whisked away to a foreign country without appropriate due process of law.

The purported reason for the illegal acts seems to be the government’s warning to illegal immigrants that they are subject to expulsion solely at the whim of the Trump administration. I believe the real reason for these photographs is to terrorize law-abiding people into allowing the illegal and immoral takeover of the U.S. by a gang acting like a group of organized criminals and calling themselves a government.

Americans will not be afraid. I hope they will be angry and raise their voices loudly, supporting the rule of law and the principles upon which our nation was founded.
