John M. “Jack” Sabourin
AUGUSTA – John M. “Jack” Sabourin, 85, died Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Alfond Center For Health in Augusta following a brief illness. He was born in Augusta on June 30, 1939, a son of the late Kenneth C. and Calista E. (Messer) Sabourin.
Mr. Sabourin was a graduate of Cony High School, Class of 1957. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force and served four years at Loring Air Force Base. Jack was employed for many years with New England Telephone Company.
He was a communicant of St. Michael Parish and was a member of the Calumet Club and the American Legion, Post #2.
Jack enjoyed spending time with his family at their camp on Three Mile Pond when his daughters were younger. Activities such as snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing with family brought him enjoyment as well. He was a handyman and took pleasure in working around the house and spent many hours mowing the fields on his beloved tractor.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Roberta J. (Valliere) Sabourin of Augusta; three daughters, Shelly R. Morang and partner Mark of Scarborough, Shannon L. Morse and husband Chris of Augusta, and Shawna J. Stewart and husband Matt of Augusta; a sister, Judith Vangeli of Manchester; a granddaughter, Kalista A. Stewart of Augusta, a step grandson Aaron Morse of South China; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A committal service will be held on Wednesday, April 30 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
