WINTHROP – Eloise B. Simard, 73, of Hathaway Road, died on Monday, April 14, 2025, with her loving husband by her side.

Eloise was born on July 12, 1951, the daughter of the late Percival and Eva (Bowley) Cox. She graduated from Orono High School in 1969. She later earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Orono.

Following high school, Eloise moved to Connecticut and began working until she returned to Maine in 1978 to attend the University of Maine at Orono. After graduating she went to work as a computer programmer analyst for the State of Maine, a 25-year career that ended with her retirement in 2012.

On Sept. 26, 2000, she married the love of her life, Robert Simard, in Waterville.

In her spare time, she enjoyed being outdoors kayaking, hiking and doing long strolls. She was an excellent seamstress and would often make clothes for herself and for Bob. She loved to quilt and made many quilts which were donated to charity. She was a member of several quilting groups in the area, including the Pine Tree Quilters Guild. Eloise was an avid reader and had a library of over 1000 books.

She was predeceased by a sister, Glennis Frey, a brother, Dana Cox.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Simard of Winthrop; a brother, Donald Cox of Orono; several nieces and nephews.
