Harold J. Poirier
WATERVILLE – Once upon a time, a special soul named Harold Joseph Poirier was born to Flora Young Poirier and Emile Poirier. Harold passed on April 14, 2025. We prayed for a miracle, but God and the Blessed Virgin had a better plan than the miracles we prayed for.
Harold was predeceased by his parents; and his brothers Richard and Paul Poirier and his sister, Jeannette Hall.
His greatest joy in his life was his family and friends. Harold was an avid gardener and loved golfing.
He was the youngest plant manager in the history of C. F. Hathaway Shirt Company. He was the plant manager in Calais, Dover Foxcroft, and Waterville.
Harold is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Marianne; his son, Mark and his wife Laudith Poirier, his stepdaughter, Lisa and husband Richard Pomerleau; his granddaughter, Jessica and husband Mike Bailey and their son Lucas and daughter Katie; granddaughter, Jordyn and husband Jake Crosby; granddaughter Nyki Poirier; and grandson Byron Sears and daughter Gracelyn; granddaughter, Laura and husband Anthony Cole and children Liam, Alister, and Elle; grandson, Miah and wife Brittany Pomerleau and son, Layton.
Harold is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins from Quebec, Canada; special nieces and nephews in Maine.
There are numerous friends, relatives and our neighbors who have supported us through this trying time who we will be forever grateful.
A special regard to Harold Alfond Cancer Center including Dr. Polkinghorn and all of the special angels who cared for Harold. You are all a godsend.
A special thank you to Maine General Hospice, you were our pillars during difficult times. Thank you to Dr. Greg Feero, Peg Soucy and Deb Brown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on April 23 at Notre Dame du Perpetual Secours Church located at 116 Silver St., Waterville.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. An online guestbook may be signed, condolence and memory shared at http://www.gallantfh.com.
Perhaps the beauty of life is not what we keep but in what we give, the love we share, the kindness we show our brothers and sisters, the memories we leave behind. Be kind, slow down, life passes by very quickly, take the opportunity to give your time to everyone who crosses your path and remember to sing like no one is listening.
Forever Always Harold (FAH)
Forever Always Marianne (FAM)
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Harold to a charity of your choice.
