AUGUSTA — Freshman Olivia Duplessis pitched a complete game Wednesday to help lead the Cony softball team to a 4-1 over Messalonskee.

Caelyn Lebel and Khloe Price each had RBI singles in the sixth inning to power the Rams (1-0), who also got two singles from Suri Ramkissoon.

Mia Perrino had an RBI single to lead Messalonskee (0-1).

 

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 20, MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 7 (6 INNINGS): Kyanah Wing had two hits and four RBI as the Falcons took down the Rambling Bears in Readfield.

Ali Mazza and Madisyn McLean each collected two RBI and three hits for Mountain Valley (1-0). Addison Libby added a double for the Falcons while also striking out six batters in a complete-game effort in the circle.

Ella Rice homered for Maranacook/Winthrop (0-1) and drove in three runs. Kyleigh Pinkham and Cyara Harriman each had two hits.

 

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 24, MT. ABRAM 2 (4 INNINGS): Mallory Clark notched three hits, including a double, and drove in four runs as the Phoenix won in Salem Township.

Rylee Turner had a hit and also drove in four runs at the place for Spruce Mountain (1-0), while striking out six and allowing one run and no hits in the circle. Aubrey Mitchell and Samantha Martin added two RBI apiece for the Phoenix.

Caitlyn Doucette and Arianna Poulin scored runs for Mt. Abram (0-1), which was held hitless.

LISBON 20, MADISON 5: Mackenzie Eaton doubled and tripled and recorded four RBI in the Greyhounds’ season-opening, four-inning win over the Bulldogs in Madison.

Melanie Simmons and Brynn Chase each doubled. Chase had two RBI and Simmons had one. Aubriana Bright added three singles and three RBI and Molly Chase also drove in three runs.

Kenadi Berry had a double and an RBI for Madison. Izzabella Stonick, Emma Anton, Jaelyn Rich and Audrey Woods also drove in a run.

VALLEY 12, TELSTAR 2 (6 INNINGS): Daisy Wright and Kirsten Bigelow each had two hits as the Cavaliers took down the Rebels in Bingham. 

Leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Valley (2-0) scored five runs to take a 7-1 lead. The Cavaliers scored three more times in the fifth and twice more in the sixth.

Cadence Campbell, Vivi Charette and Taejyah Lego each had two hits for Telstar (0-1).

WINTHROP 10, BOOTHBAY 0 (5 INNINGS): Trent Collin allowed just one hit in five innings while striking out eight as the Ramblers won in Winthrop.

Braden Branagan had a double and two singles at the plate for Winthrop (1-0). Brody Adams also had three hits with Brady Shuman adding a double Will Grant two RBI.

Liam Jacobs struck out four batters, walked five and allowed three runs in as many innings of work for Boothbay. Sam Markowitz had the lone hit for the Seahawks (0-1).

 

LISBON 7, MADISON 3: Cody Osmond nearly went the distance in the Greyhounds’ win in Lisbon.

Osmond struck out 13 batters in 6 2/3 innings for Lisbon (1-0) while walking two.

Braden Decator had two hits and three RBI to lead Lisbon’s offense.

Josh Prosser had a single and a RBI while Bobby Vieve had a triple and a single for Madison (0-1).

Bulldogs pitcher John Horton pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing three runs, walking seven and striking out 10.

 

MARANACOOK 4, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0: Noah Longfellow and Alex Spaulding combined on a four-hitter as the Black Bears won a season opener in Readfield.

Longfellow struck out seven and allowed just three hits and one walk through six innings. Spaulding struck out the side in the seventh.

Maranacook took the lead with two runs in the second inning, on a sacrifice fly by Grant Walton and an RBI single by Austin Tibbetts.

 

MT. ABRAM 22, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 3: Kaiden Longley drove in five runs as the Roadrunners won a five-inning season opener in Salem Township.

Logan Dube had two hits and three RBI, Bryce Wilcox contributed three hits and two RBI, and Ash Rollins also drove in two runs. Killian Pillsbury doubled and drove in a run.

Eli Moffatt and Evan Hamilton got Spruce Mountain’s hits.
