
Danny Newcombe
WAYNE – Danny Newcombe, 77, passed away at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston on April 18, 2025, with his loving family at his side. He was born in Augusta on March 26, 1948, to the late Maurice and Beverly (Luce) Newcombe.
Danny graduated from Winthrop High School class of 1966. Following high school, he went on to the University of Maine where he studied chemistry. He began his career at international paper in Jay and then became the State of Maine Metrologist for over 20 years in the department of agriculture. Danny was a published author in the field of metrological science and was held in high regard by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
In his free time, Danny enjoyed his grandchildren and running a hobby goat farm in his retirement.
Danny is survived by his children, Jeff and wife Lilly of Houston, Jamie and husband Kyle of Augusta, sisters, Barbara and Ruby, brother David, and grandchildren, Virianna Newcombe, Ethan, Elias and Gabrielle Cormier, and his close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother George Newcombe.
Danny’s visitation will be held on Friday April 25, from 6-8 p.m., at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St. Winthrop. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop.
