Clarence Mearle Jones

HARTLAND – Clarence Mearle Jones, 90, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025.

Clarence was born May 9, 1934, in St. Albans to Frederick and Gladys Jones. He married Gloria Fowler on Oct. 23, 1953.

Clarence was successful in life with an 8th grade education. He was mechanically inclined at a very young age. He turned that passion into a hobby and second income restoring tractors, bulldozers and antique cars. Clarence worked for Canaan Equipment, Cianbro and retired from Keyes Fiber.

Clarence loved visiting with his family, attending his grandkid’s and great-grandkid’s sporting events, going to the dance with his wife Gloria and playing cards.

Clarence was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Gladys Jones; his wife of 69 years, Gloria Jones; sisters Marjorie Weeman and Maxine Ervin, brothers Herbert, Earle and Fred Jones.

Clarence is survived by his daughters Linda Lambert and husband Parris, Gail LaGross and husband Butch; grandchildren Heather Richardson and her partner Robbie Hayden, Matthew Richardson and partner Charisse Ma LeBron, Luke Richardson and wife Sasha, Allie LaGross and fiancé Brian Carver, Mica LaGross and wife Tayla; great-grandchildren, Brendon, Keegan, Leif and Reid Richardson, Lola Caruso, Sawyer Gould and Quinn, Carson, Brantley, Aviva, Eliana and Nolan LaGross.

Clarence and Gloria will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Canaan in May with a private burial. At their request, there will be no funeral services.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sanfield Rehab and Assisted Living in Hartland for caring for Clarence since June of 2024 as well as the staff at Sebasticook Valley Hospital for their care in his final days.
