Russell “Dusty” David Grant Jr.

SUMMERFIELD, FL – Russell “Dusty” David Grant Jr. of Summerfield, Fla., formerly from West Forks, Maine, and raised in the Gardiner, Maine area, was born August 12, 1953. Dusty passed away April 25, 2025, at the age of 71. He had been battling Congestive Heart Failure for eight years.

Dusty was well liked by many people every place he went. He loved to socialize with family and friends. He was a Jack of all trades for sure.

Dusty married the love of his life Lynda in 1974. Dusty and Lynda traveled to Denver, Colo. in 1979 to Colorado School of Trade with their young daughter Kayla, where Dusty graduated from Gunsmith school. Dusty worked as a Gunsmith, dynamite blaster, mechanic, and welder.

In his younger years he really enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping. It was all about enjoying family and friends on the weekends and having some fun in the woods.

In 1998 – 2002 Dusty, Lynda, and Kim moved to northern Maine off grid to manage a lodge and sporting camps called Hardscrabble Lodge. This one of a kind job is what they had been dreaming of. This lodge and cabins were situated on beautiful Spencer Lake in Hobbstown, Maine where they lived by generators 12 miles in the woods. They catered to hunters, fisherman, and snowmobilers and kept them well fed for their adventures. Dusty’s bean – hole – beans that were cooked in the ground with lots of hot coal for 24 hours were always a favorite. Hobbstown was a population of three, Dusty, Lynda, and Kim. Dusty’s daughter Kayla loved to go north to visit her family in the woods on weekends and holidays. The owner closed the lodge to the public in 2002 when Dusty and Lynda purchased property nearby and built a log home because they loved the area so much.

Later in life Dusty and Lynda did some traveling. They finally got to go to Alaska, which they had always wanted to see. They also had a few trips to Las Vegas.

In 2021, Dusty moved to Summerfield, Fla. where he made some really nice friends who considered him family. Dusty really enjoyed having a cold beer and socializing with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Lynda Maria (Davis) Grant whom he had been divorced from for four years, although they were still great friends; daughters, Kayla Louise Grant and her significant other Butch Kinney of Skowhegan, Kimberly Marie (Grant) Nadeau and her husband Todd Nadeau of Jackman; two granddaughters, Hannah Marie Plourde of Skowhegan and Kailey Marie Nadeau of Jackman; two sisters Susan Pickens and husband Jay of Gardiner and Sharon Grant and significant other Rob of Chelsea, two brothers Ronald Grant of West Gardiner and Reggie Grant and wife Brenda of West Gardiner.
