WEST GARDINER – Michael S. Babcock, 69, of West Gardiner, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, April 18, 2025.
Michael was born in Gardiner, on April 26, 1955, the son of the late Clifford S. and Natalie L. (Hagan) Babcock. He attended local schools and graduated from the Baxter School for the Deaf. Michael spent most of his working career as a tin smith at the Bath Iron Works until illness forced him to stop working.
In his spare time, Michael enjoyed Hydro Plane Boat Racing traveling all over the country to compete. He loved riding his motorcycle and was active in activities within the deaf community, sailing on with his mom and dad on the family sailboat. If you had the chance to meet Michael, you then had a friend for life.
Michael was predeceased by a brother, Peter Babcock.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Jacqueline Babcock of West Gardiner.
A graveside service will be held at Cherry Hill Cemetery, High Street, West Gardiner, on Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
