Brady Alexander pitched a three-hitter and helped pace Richmond’s offense with a triple and a single as the Bobcats shut out Buckfield 7-0 in an East-West Conference baseball game Thursday in Buckfield.
Cody Fournier and Cale Harrington also hit triples for Richmond (7-0).
Alexander struck out eight and walked three.
Krosby Harvey took the loss for Buckfield (2-3) despite allowing only six hits over six innings.
EDWARD LITTLE 12, SKOWHEGAN 9: The Red Eddies (2-4) pulled ahead with a four-run fourth inning and held on to earn a road win over the River Hawks (3-3) in Skowhegan.
Edward Little scored two runs in each of the first three innings, but that output was matched by Skowhegan’s six-run second inning. The Red Eddies led 10-6 after their big fourth and then added a pair of runs in the sixth.
Ben Dubois, TJ Kramarz and Blake Chamberlain produced two hits and two RBI apiece. Dubois and Kramarz each had a double. Peyton Kelsea led Edward Little with three hits. Max Kimble had an RBI, scored three runs and earned the win on the mound, striking out six batters in five innings.
Jackson Hight doubled, singled and drove in three runs for Skowhegan.
CONY 5, LAWRENCE 0: Landen Perry struck out 10 and pitched a three-hitter for the Rams (5-1) in Augusta.
Cony scored all five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jordan Benedict drove in two runs with one of the Rams’ four singles. Perry, Drew Linquist and Max Tibbetts also had singles.
Jacob Frazee had two hits and Cole Quirion got the other for the Bulldogs.
SOFTBALL
CARRABEC 9, VALLEY 2: Karen Baker had two hits, drove in two runs and scored three times as the Cobras (5-0) continued their undefeated start to the season with a victory over the Cavaliers (3-2) in North Anson.
One of Baker’s hits was a triple. Amiya Tibbetts also tripled and finished with three hits while knocking in two runs for Carrabec. Josephine Scheve added a double and two RBI.
Cobras pitcher Jillian Robinson struck out five and allowed five hits.
Madeline Hill doubled and drove in a run for Valley, and Myranda Beane had two hits and an RBI.
OXFORD HILLS 13, MT. BLUE 3: Samantha McPhail belted two home runs to lead the Vikings (5-2) to a five-inning victory over the Cougars (3-1) in Paris.
One of McPhail’s homers was a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth, when Oxford Hills plated eight runs to put the mercy rule into effect. Attie Cambell also homered in the fifth, and she had one of the Vikings’ three doubles, along with Cameron Mayhan and Gigi DeVivo.
Peyton Cleveland pitched the first three innings for Oxford Hills, striking out two and earning the win before being relieved by Kyeria Morse, who fanned five batters in two scoreless innings.
Maddie Cote and Leah Merrill each had two hits for Mt. Blue.
BUCKFIELD 10, RICHMOND 0: Carmen Crockett threw a no-hitter and struck out 11 as the Bucks (4-1) beat the Bobcats (3-4) in a five-inning game in Buckfield.
Crockett was one hit batter away from a perfect game.
Cora Brewster led Buckfield’s offense with two hits and three stolen bases. Sophie St. Pierre drove in two runs and scored two, and Emma Hooper and Amelia Hill each doubled.
TELSTAR/GOULD 16, TEMPLE ACADEMY 1: Quinn Coolidge drove in three runs on three hits and pitched a two-hitter as the Rebels needed just four innings to win a doubleheader opener via the mercy rule against the Bereans in Bethel.
Viv Charette also drove in three runs and scored three. Taejyah Lego added three hits, two runs and two RBI, Maylyn Hastings had two hits, two runs and two RBI, and Cady Campbell scored four runs.
Camryn Cloutier doubled and drove in a run for Temple. Madyson Ellis got the Bereans’ other hit.
The Rebels won 18-0 in the second game.
GIRLS LACROSSE
ERSKINE ACADEMY 18, MT. BLUE 8: Abbie McDonough scored nine times and the Eagles (4-2) beat the Cougars (2-3) in Farmington.
Belle Pelotte added six goals, while Maddy McNeff scored three for Erskine. Lauren Dufour made five saves.
Lily Huntley scored four times, and Abbi Donald had a goal an assist for Mt. Blue. Addison Decker, Bree Griffin and Maya Kellett also scored, and Gwen Lesperance stopped 11 shots.
