Timothy Karl Banden
HERNANDO, Fla. – Timothy Karl Banden, 68, died at his home in Hernando, Fla. on April 30, 2025.
Born in Brockton, Mass., he was the son of the late Chester W. and Gloria L. (Perkins) Banden. Formerly from Maine, he became a Florida resident in 2006.
Tim began his career as a wholesale car buyer in Brockton, Mass., then decided to open his own car lot in the late 1980s. He later moved to Maine, and with a handful of older cars and a love for the car business, Tim and his wife, Sue, started S&T Motors in China, Maine in 1993. Five years later, they had become one of the largest selling used car dealers in the state of Maine with a reputation for handpicked, meticulously serviced cars. In 2005 they also bought a motorcycle business in Lewiston, with Tim’s longtime friend, David Veracka. Tim got tired of the cold Maine winters, so in 2006 they decided to sell the businesses and relocate to Florida. Tim and Sue found that they missed the customer interactions they had grown accustomed to so they opened a new S&T Motors in Hernando, Fla. in 2007 with the same dedication to quality services and inventory.
Tim’s passion for fast cars, fast boats, motorcycles, and his Dodge Hellcat was complimented by his abilities on the golf course. He discovered golf was almost as much fun as riding motorcycles – but not quite.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Sue; son, Timothy and daughters Jillian of Gulfport, Miss., Marissa of Inverness, Fla.; brother, Daniel Banden of Wayne, sisters Susan J. Banden of Manchester, and Sheryl Banden of Winthrop; grandchildren, Victor and Zoey (plus one on the way!); nephew, Dylan of Manchester, and niece, Tyler of Augusta; brother and sister-in-law, James and Renee Hippler of Manchester; Charles and Stephanie Hippler of Manchester; and Bill and Jane Dennison of Hernando, Fla; niece, Elizabeth of Sarasota, Fla., and nephews Jim, Ian and Charlie, all of Manchester; and many wonderful friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2 p.m. at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness, Fla. Cremation with Care by Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home.
