A four-run fifth inning propelled Skowhegan softball to a key 5-2 Class A North victory over Oxford Hills on Monday in Paris.

The River Hawks (7-1), who are atop the region’s Heal point standings, garnered only five hits, led by two singles from Lydia Jones, but also drew seven walks. Pitcher Abi Carey struck out nine in seven innings to earn the win.

Attie Campbell led the Vikings (6-3) with two hits, including a double. Madie Oliveira also doubled, and Kyria Morse had a pair of singles.

Morse also pitched and struck out 13 batters in seven innings.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 10, ST. DOMINIC 7: The Mustangs (6-0) took the lead with a five-run fifth inning and added two more in the sixth to keep their unbeaten record intact with a win over the Saints (3-3) in Auburn.

Monmouth pitcher Shannah Parsons earned her sixth win of the year. She also had a double and a single. Lillian Palleschi and Evelyn Pettengill added two hits apiece and Lauren Burnham hit a double for the Mustangs.

St. Dom’s Emily Andrews doubled and tripled, and Piper Croteau had a double and a single.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 12, MT. VIEW 2: Madisyn McLean drove in four runs to power the Falcons (6-1) past the Mustangs (0-6) in six innings in Rumford.

McLean had a game-best three hits, including a double. Maddy Brown tripled and drove in three runs for Mountain Valley, Kenzie Gammon finished with two hits, and Ali Mazza drew four walks and scored three runs.

Falcons starter Addison Libby pitched a complete game with five hits and five strikeouts.

Emily Richards led Mount View with two hits.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 10, RICHMOND 2: Isabelle Hinkley drove in three runs, Jordan Nash had four hits and two RBI, and the Panthers (6-0) turned back the Bobcats (3-5) in Yarmouth.

Aurora Blier smacked two triples and drove in two runs for NYA. Lily Fortin, the winning pitcher, added a triple and a single.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, WINTHROP/MARANACOOK SPLIT: Sammi Darling and Emelia Michaud each had two hits, Jordyn Methot and Madison Duplisea drove in two runs apiece, and the Seagulls (1-3) earned a doubleheader split by posting a 7-6 win over the Rambling Bears (2-3) in Old Orchard Beach.

Methot hit a two-run single during a five-run first inning.

Emma Rice and Piper Clark each had two hits for the Rambling Bears.

In Game 1, Rice had four hits with three runs scored and an RBI as Winthrop/Maranacook earned a 10-6 win.

Charlotte Tyler chipped in with three hits, and Clark collected two hits and two RBI.

Kayla Townsend, Hannah Webber and Michaud each had two hits for Old Orchard Beach.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 11, MADISON 6: Santika Hodgkin doubled, tripled and had five RBI to help the Phoenix (3-3) bounce back from a five-run deficit to earn a victory over the Bulldogs in Madison.

Madison scored two runs in the bottom of the first and three runs in the second, but Spruce Mountain responded with two in the top of the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a 7-5 lead. The Phoenix put the game away with a four-run seventh inning.

Hodgkin, Samantha Martin, Bella Chretien and Aubrey Mitchell each scored two runs for the Phoenix. Tyoaka Hodgkin drove in two runs, while Chretien and Mitchell had an RBI apiece.

Spruce pitcher Rylee Turner earned the win by striking out 10 and allowing three hits and one run in 5 2/3 innings of relief.

The Bulldogs out-hit the Phoenix 10-7. Emma Anton led Madison with four hits, including a double, and had an RBI. Mackenzie Robbins added a double, singled twice and scored three runs, Jillian Linkletter had two runs and two hits, and Kenadi Berry singled and drove in two runs.

Linkletter also struck out eight in seven innings in the circle.

BASEBALL

MADISON 11, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 1: Jayden Horton struck out eight batters and pitched a two-hitter in the Bulldogs’ (4-3) six-inning win over the Phoenix (1-6) in Madison.

Madison scored three runs in the first then ended the game with an eight-run bottom of the sixth inning. Owhen Van Gordon led the offense with two hits and three RBI. Xavier Estes also drove in three runs and Kamdyn Norton had two hits and two RBI for the Bulldogs.

Max Labonte and Cole Richards had Spruce Mountain’s only hits.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 12, ST. DOMINIC 4: Levi Laverdiere drove in two runs and scored three for the Mustangs (4-2) in their victory over the Saints (2-4) in Auburn.

Laverdiere got one of Monmouth’s five hits, all singles. The Mustangs also drew eight walks. Noah Schultz drove in three runs, and Zane Foyt knocked in two.

Laverdiere also earned a complete-game victory.

Riley Daigle drove in two runs and Curtis Wheeler and Kessel Lynn had two hits each for St. Dom’s.
