Olive “Ollie” Andrade

HALLOWELL – Olive “Ollie” Andrade passed away on March 21, 2025, at Woodland Assisted Living facility. Ollie was born on March 19, 1934, in Bristol, R.I. to Dennis and Sarah (Shippee) August.

She graduated from Colt Memorial High School with honors in Bristol, R.I. After graduating she worked as a stenographer at Amica until her marriage in 1956. Ollie was a military wife for 30 years and travelled extensively, working at several military bases in her early years of marriage, making life-long friends wherever she lived.

She was an active and dedicated member of the Winthrop Methodist Church serving on the blessings team.

Ollie loved bowling, dancing, crafts, reading, doing puzzles, and most of all being with the people she loved so dearly.

She was an active member of a 12 step program and celebrated 36 years of sobriety. She had many friends and will be missed by all who knew her. She was a loyal and caring friend to many. Her church family was an integral and important part of her life.

She was predeceased by her sister, Ethel Barboza, brothers Norman August and Ralph Shippee, Sr., all of Rhode Island; and niece, Annmarie August.

Ollie is survived by one niece, several nephews; and two godchildren.

There will be a memorial service at the Winthrop Methodist Church, 52 Main St., Winthrop, on June 21, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow the service at the church.
