Rep. Jared Golden said that he won’t hold town halls because of groups like Indivisible. He says this group is using dark money to further polarize American politics. Perhaps he should learn about Indivisible before he spreads rumors. The founders of Indivisible gave an excellent podcast the other day. I suggest that Rep. Golden and anyone who read the article by Ethan Horton check it out.
The “dark money” is actually “we the people.” Indivisible is run by a group of volunteers to help people learn more about the issues. Indivisible organizes people so that they have a voice large enough to take on dark money and oligarchs. Indivisible doesn’t require a membership fee and does not pressure people to contribute. Volunteers are not paid and their expenses include putting in a port-a-potty at certain protest sites.
It appears that Rep. Golden is afraid of talking to Mainers about the issues. We need representatives who are willing to listen and represent us. Rep. Chellie Pingree and Sen. Angus King are doing a great job at this. Maybe Rep. Golden could learn something from them.
