PITTSFIELD — A woman was found dead inside her burned home after firefighters extinguished a fire on Cardinal Street on Sunday.
Firefighters responded to the fire at 111 Cardinal St. in Pittsfield at 3:56 p.m. Sunday.
Once the fire was put out, crews located a deceased person inside the residence. Authorities have tentatively identified the victim as Gili Brown, 58, who lived at the home, according to Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
An autopsy will be done by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta to confirm the identity of the victim.
Investigators with the state fire marshal’s office responded to the scene and determined the cause of the fire to be an overloaded electrical power strip, according to a news release from Moss.
