Noah Longfellow drove in five runs and also was the winning pitcher as the Maranacook baseball team downed Mount View 11-1 in five innings Thursday in Readfield.
Longfellow finished a triple shy of the cycle. He ended the game with a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth, putting the mercy rule into effect.
Caldre Glowa belted a three-run homer for the Black Bears (9-4) in the third inning. Walker Dumas, Grady Hreben and River Fallos each contributed two hits to the win over the Mustangs (8-5).
SOFTBALL
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 4, OAK HILL 1: A pair of first-inning runs jump-started the Falcons’ victory over the Raiders in a Mountain Valley Conference matchup in Wales.
Ali Mazza doubled home a run and Maddy Brown brought in another on a sacrifice groundout to give Mountain Valley (10-4) a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Layce Boucher and Madison Blanchard also drove in runs for the Falcons, who have won three straight and rank third in the Class C South Heal point standings. Kyanah Wing led Mountain Valley with two hits, and Isabella Dupuis had a double.
Addison Libby went the distance in the circle to earn the win, striking out four and scattering six hits over seven innings.
Oak Hill (6-7) pitcher Izzy Whitaker also pitched a complete game. She struck out seven batters, walked four and allowed six hits and one earned run.
Whitaker produced at the plate, as well, going 2 for 3 with a double and a run. Carlee Austin also hit a double for the Raiders.
LEWISTON 10, MT. BLUE 4: Haydin Hughes had two hits, two runs and two RBI as the Blue Devils (8-7) beat the Cougars (4-10) in Farmington.
Hailey Bellemare doubled and also drove in two runs for Lewiston. Isabella Enos finished with a team-high three hits an RBI, and Ava Dionne had a double and an RBI.
Dionne notched another win by striking out four in 5 1/3 innings, and Hope Glasser held the Cougars hitless and scoreless over the final 1 2/3 innings to earn the save.
Madilyn Cote hit a home run and scored twice for Mt. Blue. Sadie Irish contributed two hits and three RBI, and Abby Dorr recorded three hits, including a double.
GARDINER 13, LINCOLN ACADEMY 1: Molly Takatsu pitched a three-hitter and had two hits and two RBI as the Tigers (5-9) defeated the Eagles (5-9) in five innings in Newcastle.
Taryn Nichols also had two hits and two RBI, and Brynnlea Chaisson and Sophia Marrone each contributed two hits and one RBI for Gardiner, which scored five runs in the second
BOYS LACROSSE
LEWISTON 7, GARDINER 6: Goalie Brock Rancourt held the Tigers scoreless in the second half, and the Blue Devils overcame a three-goal halftime deficit to earn a win in Lewiston.
Rancourt stopped 16 of the 22 shots he faced and surpassed the 600-save milestone. He now has 609 in his career.
Cam Plourde scored for Lewiston (7-5) in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 6-4, and after a Ben Gradwell goal, Plourde tied the game with his second of the game. Then Nick Beaucage scored the game-winner, giving the Blue Devils their third straight victory.
Collin Michaud added two goals for Lewiston, and Jackson Bement had one goal and three assists. Lucas Bradgon finished with two assists and Gradwell had one.
Logan Cote scored four first-half goals for Gardiner (6-7), and Owen Chadwick had two. Tigers goalie Chase McGane tallied 11 saves on 18 shots.
GIRLS LACROSSE
MT. BLUE 12, MORSE 11: Lily Huntley netted five goals and Maya Kellett scored three as the Cougars (7-5) edged the Shipbuilders (8-5) in Farmington.
Grace Allen added two goals and Nina Bogar and Reese Nye scored one apiece for Mt. Blue, while Allie Casavant, Abbi Donald and Bree Griffin each assisted on two goals. Cougars goalie Madie Morton made 20 saves.
Morse was led by three goals apiece from Zoe Avery and Micah Wolf, and Zoe Nicholson and Libby Reblin each scored two.
