Anita (Gendreau) Fecteau

AUGUSTA – Anita (Gendreau) Fecteau, 106, died on May 24, 2025, at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. She was born in Madawaska, on March 31, 1919, to Baptiste and Julie (Clavette) Gendreau.

Anita held a couple of part-time jobs throughout her life, but spent most of her years as a wonderful homemaker for her family. She was a talented seamstress making clothing for her children, and knitting and crocheting many items, particularly for babies. and Anita was a lifetime Member of Cushnoc Senior Citizen Club and the Ladies of St. Anne.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lionel Fecteau; siblings: Wallace Gendreau, Hervy Gendreau, Edwin Gendreau, Yvette Quirion and Dorina LaMothe; Infant granddaughter, Shannon Ryan; daughter-in-law Susan Fecteau and son-in-law Ronald Gotreau.

Anita is survived by her children: Raymond Fecteau and wife Lucette, Jeannine Gotreau, Deanna Colwell and husband Harley, David Fecteau, Julie Armstrong and husband, Wilbur; her siblings: Nestor Gendreau, Gilberte Evens, Sr. Irma Gendreau, Real Gendreau and Eldon Gendreau; nine grandchildren, Denise, Nicole (George), Andrea (Jamie), Susan (Danny), Amy (Michael), Rebecca (Jeremy), Allison, Michael and Cameron (Melissa); ten great grandchildren, Aislinn, Madelyn, Ryan, Jack, Charlie, Brady, Wyatt, Emmett, Austin, and Madeline; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt, sincere thank you to the staff at the Maine Veterans Home, Freedom Bay Bravo and Independence Way Alpha for the exceptional care and compassion Mom was shown during her stay on those houses. They went above and beyond and we truly appreciate it.

A period of visitation will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 6-8 p.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 75 Northern Ave., Augusta, ME. Interment will take place on Wednesday, June 11, at 10 a.m., at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
