Susan M. King
LINDLEY, N.Y. – Susan M. King, 83, of Lindley, N.Y., peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on Feb. 20, 1942, in Waterville, to Walter L. Marston and Grace E. (Hinkley) Marston. Sue graduated as valedictorian in 1960 from Williams High School in Oakland. She married Paul E. King on July 20, 1963, in Oakland, where they lived for many years raising their family.
Sue, along side her husband, was instrumental in creating and growing King Oil Service, a local residential heating oil supplier. Sue was an avid duplicate bridge player, and she and Paul also spent hours on the square dance floor where they made life-long friends. Sue’s greatest passion was her family, especially enjoying all the children that came to play at their home on Messalonskee Lake.
Susan is survived by husband, Paul; daughter, caregiver, and best friend Jill (Brian) Hall of Lindley, N.Y.; son Bret (Dodie) King of Windham; three grandchildren: Ben (Cheyenne) Hall, Dylan (Emily) King, and Dana (Bebe) King; two great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sue was predeceased by her parents.
At Sue’s request, there will be no services. Carpenter’s Funeral Home in Corning, N.Y., has been entrusted with the arrangements. At a future date, Sue and Paul will be interred together in the King family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Oakland, across the street from her childhood home and on the shores of her beloved Messalonskee Lake.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sue’s name may be sent to an animal rescue/shelter of your choice.
