Hannah Pingree recently announced her resignation from the role of director of the governor’s Office of Policy Innovation. We remember Pingree, the daughter of Rep. Chellie Pingree, a failing, partisan U.S. Representative.

Pingree served four terms in the Maine House of Representatives, some as speaker or as majority leader. She accomplished little, always mouthing the Democrat party line. No original thinking there. After that, Gov. Janet Mills created the Office of Policy Innovation just for her. Was there ever a more accurate job description?

As far as I can tell, Pingree accomplished nothing in her five years in the office. It was a show-up job, and I’m not even sure she showed up. During her five grueling years of employment, the state of Maine — that would be us, the taxpayers — paid her at least $600,000. For what? Did any of us make that much in the last five years?

It appears that the one-party rule, Democrat, in Augusta, has led to a sort of soft corruption. Jobs that are not even needed command huge sums of undeserved pay. Did I mention Hannah is the daughter of Rep. Pingree?
