Stephen “Steve” Lee Robbins

WARSAW, Ind.- Stephen “Steve” Lee Robbins of Warsaw, Ind. passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, the care of Stillwater Hospice of Fort Wayne at the age of 71.

He lost his battle to cancer but is now whole again in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

He was born on May 22, 1953, Plainfield, N.J. to Maxine Goldie (Gray) Robbins and Gerald Laroy Robbins. Steve graduated from high school in Waterville, received his associate degree and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Maine and earned his master’s degree from the University of Rhode Island.

Steve was married in Middleboro, Mass. on June 28, 1980, to the love of his life, Dale Edna Whitaker. They would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this year. Together they had a wonderful life raising their two sons and watching them grow up. Steve loved spending time with his family and stated that he was married to an amazing wife!

He moved to Indiana in 2002 and worked as the helpful and friendly catalog librarian at Grace College and Seminary in Winona Lake, Ind. for 14 years. Steve enjoyed worshiping alongside his church family as a member of Pleasant View Bible Church in Warsaw. An avid gardener, he loved spending time outdoors and had a passion for researching his family history and genealogy. A family trip for the Robbins’ family was often looking for ancestors in old cemeteries. He truly enjoyed these little adventures. Steve also co-authored four books with his father-in-law, books on family history, preachers and theology.

Steve was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dale E. Robbins of Warsaw, Ind.; two sons, Nathan I. (Jennie) Robbins of Mankato, Minn., and Nicolas “Nick” L. Robbins of Old Town. Also surviving is a grandson, Stephen Michael Robbins; two brothers, Stanley Robbins and Paul Robbins, both of East Vassalboro, and two sisters, Debbie Salley of Palmyra and Shirley LeVasseur of East Vassalboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services for Steve were held in Indiana on May 27. A period of visitation will take place on Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 983 Ridge Rd., Windsor, ME 04363 where a funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Following the service, Steve will be laid to rest at Chadwick Hill Cemetery in South China.
