Ronald Robert Friedman
SANFORD – Ronald Robert Friedman, 81, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025 at Maine Medical Center, Portland, after a long illness. Ron was born on Sept. 11, 1943, to Harold and Juliette Roy Friedman of Augusta. He is survived by his children, Tamara Hindle of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Robb Friedman, of Newton Massachusetts, his four grandchildren, and his longtime partner Linda Hanson of Sanford, Maine, as well as his many friends. While Ron had a successful career as a salesman and Northeast regional manager for Whitman’s Chocolates, an early retirement allowed him to devote his time to his true passion, the sport of tennis. Ron served as president of the Maine Tennis Association for many years and also severed as the USTA New England President. Ron founded the Maine Tennis Foundation to help grow and develop tennis in Maine, and through his efforts his love for tennis lives on.
