With regard to what we consider, and deserve, as presidential attributes are: leadership skills; sound decision-making abilities; honesty; trust; mental health; empathy; future vision; integrity; intelligence; ability to stay calm under pressure; and respect for the rule of law. Our current tenant, Donald Trump, lacks much of what we simply desire and expect in a president.

Here are some thoughts that I stress over daily regarding this man we have in our highest office right now (I’m not alone, I’m sure):

• His inability to acknowledge that he’s at the forefront of supporting and defending the Constitution tells me he’s forgotten the meaning of his oath of office.
• It is very difficult to understand/determine what he is trying to accomplish beyond simply barking his orders without question, and with no mention of vision or outcome. We’re just supposed to believe that it is all going to be great.
• Downsizing and shutting down federal facilities and departments and defunding schools, state programs and institutions may save money, but he simply uses innuendo, no facts, to justify his actions, which he doesn’t have the power to do in the first place. These actions only serve to dismantle entities with no real positive result.

We also need to understand that when he says “We are going to be so rich, beyond our dreams,” know that “We are” is himself and his rich pals.

God help us in getting through these very troubling and trying times. Let’s pray that we, the people, will prevail.
