AUBURN — Kaiden Delano’s six goals paced Class C Oak Hill/Monmouth/Lisbon/St. Dominic to a 13-8 victory over Class A Edward Little in a boys lacrosse regular-season finale Wednesday.

Six goals led all scorers in the game, but it’s about what the Raiders expect from Delano.

“Kaiden, I mean, walking into this game, I think he had 53 goals and nine assists,” Oak Hill coach David Snyder said. “He’s averaging six points a game, so the reality of it is, this was kind of an average game for him.”

Nathan Dillman added three goals and an assist for Oak Hill/Monmouth/Lisbon/St. Dom’s.

“I felt great, honestly,” Delano said. “I felt like I’ve been lacking on my sidearm shots, but I was able to find a few open, assisted by this big guy (Dillman) who got his head up, and I was able to put a few in the corner and sink six, which was nice. Even when they pushed out on me, I was still able to get a few or the other men did what they needed to do and scored for the team.”

How the Raiders won

• After lagging 3-1 in the first quarter, the Raiders scored six goals in the second quarter to take the lead, which it maintained throughout the rest of the game. Oak Hill added another five goals in the third quarter, compared to Edward Little’s three in the second and third quarters combined.

Snyder said the Raiders struggled early with shot placement and having patience on offensive possessions.

“They knew what to do, it was just a matter of reinforcing that and getting them to actually do it,” Snyder said. “A lot of times it really comes down to a couple lucky breaks; you get a couple of lucky breaks and then instead of things going bad, and then starting to spiral, it’s the opposite.”

• Oak Hill finished with more than twice as many shots on goal, 31-15, as Edward Little.

• Six Oak Hill players scored at least one goal, and 10 of the 13 goals were assisted, compared to Edward Little’s three assists on eight goals.

• Raiders goalie Carter Austin stopped seven of the 15 shots he faced, and Edward Little’s Logan Billings made 18 saves on 31 shots.

“Whenever we have Logan in the net, we always have a chance to win the game because he’s so good at seeing the ball, catching the ball, reading where the shots going to go, and he’s got that big body as a sophomore,” Edward Little coach Tyler Haskell said. “Being a big kid like that, he can fill out a lot of the net, and the ones that he can’t get to, his stick just eats up.”

Statistical leaders

• Oak Hill: Kaiden Delano (6 goals, assist), Nathan Dillman (3 goals, assist), Gage Spier (2 assists), Carter Austin (7 saves on 15 shots).

• Edward Little: Haydon Emery (3 goals), Andrew Clements (2 goals, assist), Dexter Morin (2 goals), Logan Billings (18 saves on 31 shots).

Postseason next

• Oak Hill (8-6) will likely be the third seed in the Class C playoffs.

• Edward Little (8-6) appears to be taking the 10th seed into the Class A postseason.
