Dr. Hal James Larlee

NORTH ANSON – Dr. Hal James Larlee, 65, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, following a short battle with cancer.

Hal was born in Lincoln, Maine on Feb. 2, 1960, to parents Ruth Elizabeth (McLaughlin) and Harold James Larlee of Medway. He attended schools in Millinocket, New Hampshire, New York, and graduated from high school in 1978 from Fundy High School in St. George, NB, Canada. He went on to attend Eastern Nazarene College and University of Maine Farmington before attending Logan College where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic in 1989. Between high school and college, he served as a tank crew member in Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion 69th Armor Regiment at Fort Benning in Georgia.

Hal worked in many places including Good Will Hickley for many years before he moved to RSU #74 where he most recently worked as the special education math teacher at Carrabec High School. Most importantly, he owned his own chiropractic business, New Hope Chiropractic, where he was honored to treat patients for many years. Helping people get well gave him great joy and satisfaction and he enjoyed getting to know and spend time with every patient.

He enjoyed spending time in nature, fishing, mowing, and gardening. He also enjoyed artistic pursuits like wood carving and painting. He counted amongst his friends the never-ending rotation of wild animals in his backyard including chipmunks, birds, skunks, foxes, deer, and turkeys. While he may have looked and presented himself as an intimidating grump, Hal had a heart of gold and was willing to help anyone who needed it. It was his greatest joy to provide for his family and friends, often sacrificing to make sure that his wife and daughter could have great experiences and adventures. His faith in God was an important part of how he lived his life, and he strove to show that love to others in all that he did.

Hal was predeceased by his father, Harold Larlee.

He is survived by his mother Ruth Larlee of Medway; mother-in-law Beverly Tripp of North Anson; wife of 38 years Angela (Tripp) Larlee; daughter Sarah and son-in-law Andrew St. Germain of Massachusetts; sisters Cheryl and brother-in-law Barry Smith of Brockville, ON, Canada and Sandy Larlee of Madison; brother Scott and sister-in-law Karen Larlee of Greenbush; nieces Elizabeth, Stephanie, Brittany, Emily, and nephew Michael.

A celebration of life will be held on June 28, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Carrabec High School in North Anson, ME.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Eastern Maine Medical Center especially Dr.’s Martin and Fachiol, nurses Sandy, Kurt, Daniel, and Josh, and Redington-Fairview General Hospital for taking care of Hal during his battle with cancer.
