Gerald “Jerry” George Gallant III
CANAAN – With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Gerald “Jerry” George Gallant III, who left us on May 26, 2025, at the age of 52.
Born on March 28, 1973, Jerry graduated from Lawrence High school in 1991. He lived a life fueled by curiosity, kindness, and the simple joys in life: a well-tuned engine, a day spent tinkering, and the kind of company where you don’t need a big plan to have a good time.
Jerry could fix almost anything and if he couldn’t, he’d take it apart, study it, and invent something better. He was a jack of all trades, a master of a few, and dangerously enthusiastic about learning all he could about different processes. His garage over the years may or may not have violated a few laws of physics or been full of slightly unconventional inventions he rigged up “just to see if it works.”.
Jerry held many job titles throughout his years; his most memorable was woodworking with Jeff Cucci and Dan Bloomer, working at Houles Plumbing and Heating, and a proud and passionate employee at Kennebec Equipment Rental. Jerry didn’t just love what he did; he loved the people he worked with, the machines he worked on, and the stories that came with every project.
He was truly one-of-a-kind; he was the guy you felt like you’d known for your whole life after only talking with him for five minutes. In a room full of people, he had a way of making you feel like you were the only one there. He gave his time freely, his advice soundly, and his tools with a warning to return them… eventually.
More than anything, Jerry loved his people whether you were family by blood or by bond. Each person within his circle carries a story, a laugh, and a lesson from Jerry. His confidence, humor, and playful spirit left a mark, creating memories so vivid, they’re still being shared decades later.
His legacy is one of generosity and a quiet, constant love. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and frequently quoted.
He is survived by his two beloved daughters, Kaytlynn Barry and Emily Robertson; his sisters, Christine Young and Karol Wicker; his mother, Priscilla Gallant; cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends who became family along the way.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Jerry on June 22, 2025, noon – 5 p.m. at Bigelow Brewing Company; 473 Bigelow Hill Road, Skowhegan.
