On May 22, the House of Representatives passed President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” that included deep cuts to the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) clean energy tax credits.

Since the IRA’s passage in 2022, investments in clean energy projects have been made all over Maine. Dozens of companies have created hundreds of Maine jobs, and additional announced projects are on track to continue adding more jobs. The federal clean energy tax credits are effectively helping Maine reach our renewable portfolio standard goals: 80% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% by 2050. Don’t let the Senate agree to cut these beneficial clean energy tax credits.

Cutting clean energy tax credits hurts Maine if this bill become law without modifications. Urge Sen. Susan Collins and Sen. Angus King to protect these clean energy tax credits before voting on the House budget bill version. Thank them for their past climate work that has helped spur clean energy investments in Maine and nationwide. Keep Maine on track, continuing to build a healthier, livable climate.
