Cole Carrigg was 2 for 4 with an RBI before being ejected after the seventh inning as the Hartford Yard Goats edged the Portland Sea Dogs 4-2 Wednesday night in an Eastern League game at Hadlock Field.
Carrigg gave Hartford a 3-1 lead with an RBI single in the seventh inning. Carrigg tried to stretch the single into a double and was called out. He argued and was thrown out by umpire Tim Barreras.
Portland moved within a run when Corey Rosier walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.
The Sea Dogs had a chance to tie the game in the eighth, with runners on first and third with two outs. The threat ended when Zach Ehrhard lined out to left.
Hartford added a run in the ninth on an RBI single by Dyan Jorge.
The Sea Dogs took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI double to left by Mark Kolozsvary, who had two of Portland’s five hits.
Hartford took the lead in the fourth on an RBI groundout by Bryant Betancourt and an RBI double by Jose Torres.
