AUGUSTA — A Clinton man who allegedly regularly sexually assaulted a girl when she was as young as 15 years old was indicted on several counts of gross sexual assault.

Kevin L. Allstrom, 40, allegedly starting sexually assaulting the girl , in June of 2021. An affidavit alleges he continued to sexually assault the girl on a regular basis until June of 2024.

Allstrom was indicted May 22 by a Kennebec County grand jury on seven counts of gross sexual assault, each alleging he engaged in sexual acts with a child under the age of 18. The charge states that when the alleged acts occurred Allstrom was responsible for the long-term care and welfare of the child. He was also indicted on one count of unlawful sexual contact, involving the same girl.

All the crimes are alleged to have taken place in Clinton.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt but indicates enough evidence exists for a case to proceed toward trial.

Clinton police Sgt. Roger Smith wrote in an affidavit the girl told him the incidents started when she was 15 and continued to take place, almost daily, over the next three years.

Under questioning from police, Smith said Allstrom admitted to him he’d had sex with the girl for about a year and a half, starting when she was 16. He told police she manipulated him.

All the allegations are Class B crimes, which are punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
