George Lombard Jr. and Spencer Jones, the top two hitters in the order, each hit a home run and drove in two runs and combined to go 5 for 8 as the Somerset Patriots won the second game of an Eastern League doubleheader 9-2 over the Portland Sea Dogs Wednesday at Bridgewater, New Jersey.

The Sea Dogs won the opener 4-3 to end a six-game losing streak.

The Sea Dogs made four errors in losing the second game. Starter Reidis Sena was pulled after 1 1/3 innings, allowing six runs, five earned, and three hits. He walked three and struck out one.

Zach Ehrhard and Allan Castro hit first-inning homers for Portland.

In the opener, the Sea Dogs took advantage of an error in the fifth inning to score three runs to pull ahead of the Patriots.

Somerset held a 2-1 lead after four innings. In the fifth, Caden Rose singled for the Sea Dogs, who loaded the bases on walks to Ahbram Liendo and Zach Ehrhard. Marvin Alcantara reached on a throwing error by Patriots catcher Rafael Flores, allowing Rose and Liendo to score. Castro then had an RBI single to give Portland a 4-2 lead.

Giancarlo Stanton, who has yet to play for the Yankees this season as he recovers from tendon injuries in both elbows, had an RBI double in the first inning. He flied out in the seventh with the tying run on first. He did not play in the second game.

Marcus Stroman, who hasn’t pitched for the Yankees since April 11 with a lingering left knee injury, started for the Patriots. In his first rehab start, he went 3 1/3 innings. He allowed one hit and one run. He walked two and struck out four.

Connelly Early improved to 5-0 for the Sea Dogs. He pitched five innings and allowed three runs, one earned. He walked one and struck out eight. Yovanny Cruz pitched two scoreless innings for his third save.
