
River Fallos singled home Caldre Glowa in the bottom of the eighth inning Thursday to give the Maranacook baseball team a 3-2 Class C South quarterfinal victory over Dirigo in Readfield.
No. 2 Maranacook (13-4) will host No. 3 Monmouth Academy (13-4) at 3 p.m. Saturday.
No. 10 Dirigo (8-9) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a bases-loaded walk and a steal of home by Trevor Crosby. Maranacook scored once in the bottom of the first, then tied the game when Noah Longfellow singled, stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch in the third.
Grady Hreben struck out 10 in five innings for Maranacook. Alex Spaulding pitched three innings of hitless relief to earn the win.
SOFTBALL
CARRABEC 13, VALLEY 7: Aiyana Tibbetts sparked a nine-run sixth inning with a three-run homer as fourth-seeded Carrabec rallied past fifth-seeded Valley in a Class D South softball quarterfinal in North Anson.
Valley (10-6) plated three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 6-4 lead.
Carrabec’s Amiya Tibbetts recorded three hits, including a double, drove in two runs and scored four. Karen Baker had two hits and two RBI, and Ava Welch (double) and Josephine Scheve each contributed a pair of hits for the Cobras (14-2).
Valley was led by Liana Hartwell, who doubled and knocked in two runs. Delia Hill (double) and Karlee Cates added two hits apiece.
Carrabec advances to face No. 1 Buckfield (16-1) in the semifinals on Saturday.
LEAVITT 6, ERSKINE ACADEMY 2: A five-run second inning was more than enough for the Hornets in a Class B South quarterfinal win over the Eagles in Turner.
Reese Bilodeau pitched a complete game with no earned runs allowed for No. 2 Leavitt (14-3). Ashlyn Holbrook had two hits, while Brooke Boutaugh tripled.
Lilly Clark and Kylie Bellows each had two hits for seventh-seeded Erskine (9-9).
ST. DOMINIC ACADEMY 11, RICHMOND 1: Emily Andrews tripled, singled and had two RBI to lead the third-seeded Saints (12-5) to a five-inning victory over the sixth-seeded Bobcats (7-10) in a Class D South quarterfinal in Auburn.
Chloe Croteau contributed a double and a single. Leah Shannon, Kassidy Cote, Cassidy Russell all had an RBI.
Madeline Andrews allowed four hits in the circle and struck out seven in a complete game.
Brooklyn Hooper, Charlotte Crawson, Taylor Johansen and Samantha Leathers all had a single for Richmond.
MONMOUTH ACADEMY 10, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0: Rileigh Chase had a triple, a single and three RBI as the Mustangs (17-0) beat the Seagulls (4-12) in a Class C South quarterfinal in Monmouth.
Shannah Parsons allowed one hit, struck out 10 and didn’t walk a batter for No. 1 Monmouth, which advances to a semifinal against No. 4 Dirigo on Saturday.
Lila Poussard also had three RBI.
