William “Bill” Francis Kiely Jr.

AUGUSTA – William “Bill” Francis Kiely, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 5, 2025 after a long illness at The Maine Veteran’s Home in Augusta. Born May 25, 1942 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the beloved son of the late William F. Kiely Sr. and Beatrice Pearl Cormier.

Bill married the love of his life, Jane Packard and shared 43 years of marriage before her passing in June of 2006. Their marriage was an example of true commitment and affection.

Together they raised two children, Mary Joy (Kiely) Testerman and William L. Kiely. He was an extremely proud grandfather of five who affectionately called him “Gpa” (The REAL OG), Logan and Makenzie (fiancée Brooke DeCapua) Testerman, Blaise, Micah and Meadow Kiely. He was a constant presence, admired and adored by all who knew him.

A very hard worker, Bill mastered many roles in his lifetime. He served honorably in The United States Air Force. He graduated from the University of Maine, Orono with a business degree and went on to work for the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation Division as a Special Agent and Firearms instructor until his retirement in 1997. Bill was a 3rd degree Knight of Council #1299 Knights of Columbus and a 4th Degree Knight of Abanaki Assembly #346. In his younger years he was a Park Ranger for Mt. Battie State Park in Camden.

Ever devoted to his Catholic faith, he served many hours on the board for the Catholic Diocese and help many positions in the Parish of St. Andrew and St. Michaels.

Bill had a passion for socializing and conversation. A city kid that moved to Maine he spent years adventuring with his wife Jane and hours on the Camden Harbor sailing their boat.

He was a huge fan of all of his grandchildren and their events (sports / singing). He attended many, if not all of each of their activities.

Bill has left his family and friends with something greater than riches; a legacy of love, joy, wisdom and strength. The memories he gave us are treasures we will carry forever.

Bill is survived by his two children, Mary Joy Testerman, and William L. Kiely and wife Heather Ballard. He is also survived by his five grandchildren.

He was predeceased in death by his wife, Jane; and his parents Bill and Pearl Kiely.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday June 30 at 9 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church 75 Northern Ave., Augusta. A committal service for both Bill and Jane will immediately follow at 10 a.m. at The Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.

A lunch reception will be held at The Viles Arboretum, Franklin Room, 153 Hospital St., Augusta, after committal (11 a.m.) for those who wish to celebrate the lives of Bill and Jane.
