Iraida “Lucy” Macomber
EAST WINTHROP – Iraida “Lucy” Macomber, a longtime resident of East Winthrop, died peacefully on June 12, 2025, in Cape Elizabeth. Lucy grew up in Puerto Rico but moved to Maine in 1956 where she raised her family.
Lucy was predeceased by her loving husband, G. Thomas Macomber of Augusta. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Doyle, son Harry Sparks and wife Doris, and son William Sparks. Lucy had three grandchildren; Jennifer Mosley and husband Eli, Crystal Doyle, and Kaela Taylor and husband Craig. She had four great grandchildren; Everett, Harlow, and Teagan Mosley and Audrey Taylor.
Lucy worked and retired from Digital Equipment Corporation in Augusta. She loved living on Lake Cobbossee where she enjoyed listening to Tom’s music, swimming, sewing, needlepoint, and playing cribbage. Lucy was a wonderful cook with a specialty of baking pies.
There will be a graveside service at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery at Civic Center Drive, 143 Blue Star Avenue in Augusta on Tuesday July 1, at 12 p.m., noon.
