PITTSTON — Maine’s agricultural fair season kicks off today with the Pittston Fair, which runs through Sunday.

Highlights include a pig scramble at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, He Man/She Woman competition at 6 p.m. Friday, demolition derby at 3 p.m. Saturday and the Baby Contest at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The fair was moved to June a few years ago, because that’s when midway rides were available, according to Pete Weeks, vice president of the Pittston Fair Association. The midway will feature Smokey’s Greater Shows.

Admission will cost $8 for those 13 and older and is free for children 12 and younger with paying adult.

Camping at the fairgrounds at 995 E. Pittston Road is available for $25 per night. No dogs or pets allowed on the fairgrounds.
