
Laurence O. Folsom
MONMOUTH – Laurence O. Folsom, 85, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Maine Veterans Home, in Augusta. Laurence was born in Monmouth on March 16, 1940, the son of Harold P. Folsom, Sr. and Irma (Dudley) Folsom.
He attended Monmouth schools and graduated from Monmouth Academy in 1958. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. On April 30, 1966, in China, Maine, he married Elaine F. Lanpher, of South China. They shared 54 years together before she passed away on April 20, 2021.
Laurence worked in auto maintenance and later as a shop foreman for Jewett Ford, Auburn Ford, Porter-Shaw Ford and Chamber Augusta Ford, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Monmouth Fire Department for 50 years and served as fire chief for 22 years. Laurence was also a founding member of the Cochnewagon Snowmobile Club.
Laurence is survived by his two sons, Laurence Owen Folsom and his wife Melissa of Wrentham, Mass., Carold “CL” Folsom and his wife Julie of Kissimmee, Fla.; two grandchildren, Emma and Jacob and fiancée Jaime Mclaurin; two sisters, Rebecca Fergerson and Karen Mitchell, and his brother, Leroy Folsom. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Elaine L. Folsom; three sisters, Charlene LaVoie, Annie Smith, and Rowena Lane. and three brothers. Harold P. Folsom, Jr., Francis Folsom and Linwood Folsom.

Funeral service with Firefighter Honors will be held on Saturday, July 19 at 1 p.m. at BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main Street, Monmouth, Maine. Visiting hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment with military honors will be held 10 a.m., Monday, July 21 at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Avenue, Augusta, Maine.
