Mikey Romero belted a grand slam in the second inning, Allan Castro added a solo home run, and the Portland Sea Dogs held on for a 5-4 win over the Akron RubberDucks in an Eastern League game Saturday night at Hadlock Field.
Romero, who returned from the injured list on Friday, drove a pitch from Zach Jacobs over the center-field wall for his seventh home run of the season. He also drove in four runs Friday night.
An inning later, Castro made it 5-0 with his fifth home run.
Sea Dogs starting pitcher Dalton Rogers struck out eight over 5 2/3 innings and exited with the 5-0 lead still intact, but Jorge Burgos greeted Sea Dogs reliever Jeremy Wu-Yelland with a three-run homer. Akron added another run in the eight before Gabriel Jackson closed out the game in the ninth, earning his first save of the season.
